When the Cuyahoga Falls Public Library wanted to create a mascot that would connect with younger audiences while reflecting the community, they partnered with Bark at the Moon Graphics to bring the idea to life. The library had already identified a river otter as the perfect symbol, tying into the river that runs through the city.

Our task was to transform that idea into a friendly, kid-focused character that felt welcoming, memorable, and versatile. We designed a glasses-wearing river otter with a playful personality and approachable style, making the character easy to recognize and fun to engage with. The mascot was named Taylor, a nod to the library’s original name, the Taylor Memorial Library.

Beyond the initial character design, we developed multiple poses and expressions to give the mascot flexibility across a wide range of applications. These variations allow Taylor to be used consistently across print materials, digital platforms, signage, and social media while maintaining a cohesive look and feel. The mascot was built with vectors and a limited color palette to ensure the design was reproducible across various mediums.

The result is a character that helps humanize the library, strengthen community connection, and support outreach efforts with a visual identity that resonates with both kids and families.
